LITURGICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
NOTES FOR THE INFORMATION OF GENERAL SYNOD MEMBERS
As stated in the Report of the Liturgical Advisory Committee to the General Synod of 1998 that Committee is in the process of making a revision of the Book of Common Prayer.
The General Synod in 1998 gave general approval to the table of contents of a revised Book of Common Prayer with a projected time-table.
To that end certain Resolutions and Bills have been provided and others are in preparation in the hope that by 2004 a definitive book can be provided.
Nine Bills and eleven Resolutions are provided this year.
The date of commencement for any Statute arising from such Resolution or Bill shall be such day as may hereafter be appointed by the General Synod.

LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 1
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend the Book of Common Prayer by altering the wording of certain texts to follow the English Language Liturgical Consultation (ELLC) version as amended and set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 2
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled The Order for Confirmation by including therein The Order for Confirmation as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 3
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend the Book of Common Prayer by including therein Holy Baptism in the context of Morning or Evening Prayer as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.

LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 4
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled Prayers and Thanksgivings by substituting for the above-mentioned part of the Book of Common Prayer, Some Prayers and Thanksgivings from earlier editions of the Book of Common Prayer or from Alternative Prayer Book as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 5
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend the Book of Common Prayer by including therein Daily Prayer as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 6
That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled The Order for the Visitation of the Sick by substituting for the above-mentioned part of the Book of Common Prayer, Ministry to the Sick and to others requiring particular pastoral care as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 7
That in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled A Penitential Service by substituting for the above-mentioned part of the Book of Common Prayer, Service for Ash Wednesday as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.

LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 8
That in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled The Psalter by substituting for the above-mentioned part of the Book of Common Prayer, The Psalter from Common Worship - Services and Prayers for the Church of England for use in churches of the Church of Ireland.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 9
That in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to include, with the Book of Common Prayer, The Ordinal as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
LITURGICAL RESOLUTION No 10
That in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend that part of the Book of Common Prayer entitled General Directions for Publick Worship by substituting for the above-mentioned part of the Book of Common Prayer, General Directions for Public Worship as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.

Note:
Some of the statutes passed by the General Synod in 1999, 2000 and 2001 concerning services to be included in the Book of Common Prayer require amendments to correct mistakes, inaccuracies, inconsistencies and infelicities:
Resolution:
That in accordance with the provisions of Section 26(1) of Chapter 1 of the Constitution, leave be given for the introduction of a Bill in the General Synod of 2003 to amend the Book of Common Prayer by correcting inaccuracies and contradictory directions and removing infelicities of diction in the statutes already passed as set out in the Schedule to this Resolution.
