PRESS RELEASE
CHURCH OF IRELAND MAGAZINE
COMPETITION
28 January 2002
The Church of Ireland annual magazine competition is extended this year to
include parish and diocesan websites.
The closing date for entries is 29 March 2002.
Mrs Janet Maxwell, Director of Communications, is keen to encourage editors
to take part in this year's competition which promises 'bigger and better'
prizes than ever before.
She said: "Communications management is developing all the time and I am
very aware of the fact that Church of Ireland editors are producing a
wonderful variety of publications both in the dioceses and in the parishes.
There is also a growing number of websites that are making a significant
impact on church communications."
Mrs Maxwell will give editors a detailed assessment of their entries and
offer guidance and support in continuing to improve internal communications.
The Church of Ireland Communications Unit invites entries in three categories: diocesan magazine, parish magazine and websites (dioceses and
parishes).
The entries will be judged on overall design, editorial content and
outreach potential. In particular websites will be examined on their use of
colour, accessibility, text and graphics presentation.
Prizes will be awarded at the General Synod in Dublin on Thursday, 16 May
2002.
