COMPETITION JUDGES LOOK BEHIND THE COVERS

The Church of Ireland’s annual magazine and website competition attracted entries that reflected well on the skills and dedication of editors and website managers.

The judges were looking for “meat” in terms of well balanced and interesting content and were attracted to publications that achieved a very competent presentation ‘on a shoe string’.

Says Media Officer Brian Parker: “There is obviously a great deal of time and effort and not a little imagination being put into the production of parish and diocesan magazines and websites.

“It was good to see editors taking on board advice from last year and making significant improvements. In the coming year we hope to run a series of workshops to take that developing expertise a stage further.

"All in all a very satisfying outcome to this year’s competition with the judges looking behind the covers and putting a lot of emphasis on writing and good use of space.”

The results of the competition were announced today at the General Synod by Archbishop Robin Eames who presented the prizes and congratulated the winners and all those who make such a valuable contribution to church communications.
