The President of the General Synod and the Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Revd Alan Harper, welcomed representatives from other Churches present at the meeting of the Church of Ireland General Synod in Armagh today.

Representing the Roman Catholic Church was the Rev Kieran McDermott and Sr Catherine Kealy CP. Representing the Scottish Episcopal Church was the Rt Rev Bruce Cameron. The Methodist Church in Ireland was represented by the Rev Aian Ferguson, President of the Methodist Church and Mrs Margaret Copeland. The Presbyterian Church was represented by the Very Rev Dr John Finlay, a former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and Mr William Scott. The Moravian Church in Ireland was represented by Rev Jan Mollan. The Irish Council of Churches was represented by the Rev Tony Davidson, President of the ICC.

Addressing the Members of the General Synod, Rev Kieran McDermott said 'On behalf of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland, I bring the promise of prayers in these days of decisions and discussion. It has been wonderful to witness the diversity within the Church of Ireland'.
