The 2010 General Synod of the Church of Ireland opened today in Dublin with Synod devotions led by the Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe, the Rt Revd Trevor Williams.

During the short service prayers were said for the people of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland who are today casting their votes in the UK General Election.

Shortly after opening prayers, the Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Revd Alan Harper nominated Mr Lyndon McCann SC as Assessor for the Synod.
