Printable versionYouth Worker Volunteers Praised at General Synod

In a short debate on the section of the report dealing with youth ministry, Martin Montgomery (Down and Dromore) commended the work of the Church of Ireland youth department and the book that will be launched during the course of the Synod.

Andrew Brannigan (Down) noted an increasing professionalism throughout all the Churches in the field of youth work. He praised the work that the staff in the Church of Ireland youth department. “It is no light burden that we are charged with...but despite the challenges there are many stories of growth and success. There are over 5000 volunteers working with young people throughout the Church. Praise God for the dedication of those volunteers.”

The Very Revd Christopher Peters (Cork Cloyne and Ross) also commended the work of volunteers. “It is something to give thanks to God for and something to promote and encourage.”

The Revd Pat Storey seconded.
