The General Synod of the Church of Ireland 2014 has drawn to a close following three days of deliberations.

The Archbishop of Dublin thanked the Primate for the way in which he facilitated Synod. He said that this Synod has been historic for very particular reasons – one because of the interchangeability of ministries. The other thing he singled out was that this has been a gracious Synod.

He thanked the staff of the RCB and Church House and the Dean and staff of Christ Church Cathedral for making members of Synod feel welcome. He also thanked the assessor Mr Lyndon McCann.

Mr Sam Harper gave the attendance figures for general synod. The resolution to publish the journal of the proceedings of General Synod was passed.

Archbishop Richard Clarke concluded proceedings by saying he felt a sense at this Synod of a greater unity and purpose than he had felt at any other Synod.

He thanked all who had arranged General Synod – the Honorary Secretaries and the those working with them.
