The General Synod of the Church of Ireland continues this morning (Friday May 13) in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire. Following morning devotions led by the Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe, the Rt Revd Kenneth Kearon. He prayed for those who are marginalized – people who are homeless, refugees and human trafficking. He also prayed for the work of Synod.
Archbishop Richard Clarke welcomed members back to Synod. Mr Sam Harper read a motion from the Commission on Episcopal Ministry and Structures which will be discussed later this afternoon.
Among the items on the agenda for this morning is the report of the Representative Church Body and the Boards of Education NI and RI will present their reports. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Limerick, the Most Revd Brendan Leahy, will address Synod on behalf of the visitors.
Before lunch a report, Value for Learning: Small Irish Protestant Primary Schools, will be launched.
