PROPOSED AMENDMENTS 
TO LITURGICAL BILLS Nos 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9

The following amendments to the Liturgical Resolutions of 2001 were received by the Honorary Secretaries within one month of last year's meeting of the Synod, in accordance with Standing Order 30(a), and will be considered this year as amendments to the Schedules of the Liturgical Bills.

BILL NO 1 - Proposed Amendment

    After "THE MARRIAGE" delete "CONSENTS" and the italics. Insert "THE CONSENT".

  2. REV CANON JPO BARRY

    In the section headed "CONSENTS" at the rubric "The Minister says to the Woman," delete the paragraph following that rubric and insert

    "... Wilt thou have this Man to thy wedded husband, to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Wilt thou love him, comfort him, honour, and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live?
    I will.

    Or the Minister may say to the Woman,
    ... Wilt thou have this Man to thy wedded husband, to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Wilt thou obey him and serve him, love, honour, and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live?
    I will."

    In the section headed "THE MARRIAGE VOWS" after
    "The Man, with his right hand taking the Woman by her right hand, says after the Minister:
    I ... take thee ... to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I plight thee my troth."

    Insert

    "The Woman, with her right hand taking the Man by his right hand, says after the Minister:
    I ... take thee ... to my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I plight thee my troth.

    Or the Woman, with her right hand taking the Man by his right hand, may say after the Minister:

    In the section "GIVING AND RECEIVING OF A RING" after

    "The Man puts the Ring on the fourth finger of the Woman's left hand and, holding the Ring there, says:
    With this Ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

    Insert

    "If the Woman gives the Man a Ring, she puts the Ring on the fourth finger of the Man's left hand and, holding the Ring there, says:
    With this Ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

    That before the directions "If Holy Communion does not follow, the service continues with……"

    The following be inserted:
    "Holy Communion, when it follows, begins at CELEBRATING AT THE LORD'S TABLE on (page000).

    This proper preface may be used
    (Insert here the appropriate Proper Preface)

    PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

    The appropriate seasonal Post Communion Prayer (See pages 00-00), or the following may be said:
    (Insert here the appropriate Post Communion Prayer)"

    and that the text of the Holy Communion service from "CELEBRATING AT THE LORD'S TABLE" be deleted as far as, but not including "THE DISMISSAL".
